From QSO to QSL and awards,
all in one window.
HamlogEx is an amateur radio logging program for Windows. It brings QSO entry, QSLs, awards, digital modes and contesting together in a single window, built with C# / WPF (.NET 8) and SQLite for a fast, responsive feel.
- Free of charge
- Windows 10 / 11
- English & Japanese
- Light / dark themes
From daily QSOs to award applications
Everything you use often, in one program — built so that new radios and languages can be added later.
Single-window QSO entry
Entry panel, filters, log list and QSO history on one screen. Dupes and new ones show as you type. Ctrl+S to log, Esc to clear.
QSL management & printing
Unsent and outstanding lists, JARL bureau sort order, postcard and label printing, and a visual print-definition editor.
Award tracking
DXCC, WAS, JCC, JCG, WAKU, POTA, SOTA, WWFF, IOTA and more. Choose which confirmations count: paper, hQSL, eQSL or LoTW.
DX tools
Entity lookup from cty.dat with distance and bearing, a DX cluster client, band map and grayline map.
WSJT-X / JTDX integration
Automatic logging over UDP. Decodes are colored by "new" status and a double-click calls the station. ALL.TXT monitoring too.
Online QSL
Upload to eQSL, LoTW (via TQSL), Club Log and QRZ.com. Download eQSL / LoTW confirmations and mark them received.
Contesting
Exchanges, serial numbers and per-contest dupe checking. Export Cabrillo 3.0 and JARL electronic logs (R2.1).
Rig control (up to 2 rigs)
Frequency and mode are read automatically. CW sending, PTT, WinKeyer, voice messages and rotator control as well.
Backups & data checks
Automatic backups on exit with generations, error detection with suggested fixes, and conditional find & replace.
Network sharing
Share QSOs between several PCs (host / clients, passphrase, messages). Made for multi-op contests.
English & Japanese
Follows your Windows display language automatically, and can be switched in Settings without restarting.
Illustrated user manual
A manual with screen diagrams is included. Press F1 to open it at any time.
A closer look
Start typing a call — HamlogEx does the rest
Lookups and completion happen automatically so you can stay focused on the QSO.
- Date and time filled in on the first keystroke (optional)
- Name, QTH and Code completed from past QSOs
- Dupe, new entity and new band indicators
- Japanese licence lookup, QRZ.com and HamQTH callbooks
- Default RST per mode
Design QSL cards visually
Place text, tables, lines, images and QR codes, then drag them into position. What you see is exactly what prints.
- Merge fields such as
{Call}and{Date} - Print conditions, e.g. "TNX QSL" only when received
- Label sheets, background images and E-Mail QSL images
FT8 QSOs go straight into your log
When you log a QSO in WSJT-X or JTDX, it is added to HamlogEx automatically.
- Decodes colored by type of "new"
- Highlights shown in WSJT-X as well
- Double-click to call a station
- Works alongside GridTracker (UDP forwarding)
See the band at a glance
Cluster spots are laid out by frequency, with new ones and band-new stations highlighted in color.
- Click to tune the rig and fill the entry panel
- Zoom with the wheel, drag to pan
- Grayline map with great-circle paths
Electronic QSLs in one place
Upload unsent QSOs in one go, and apply incoming confirmations to your log.
- eQSL.cc, LoTW, Club Log and QRZ.com Logbook
- Optional automatic upload on every QSO
- Find QSOs that are in LoTW but missing from your log
Screen diagrams are illustrations and differ from the actual program in detail. All QSO data shown is fictitious.

Frequently asked questions
How is the log stored?
Each log is a single SQLite file (.hxlog). You can also export to ADIF or CSV for use with other programs and online QSL services.
My radio isn't in the list.
If it uses one of the supported protocols, add it to the settings file (rigs.json). Through Hamlib rigctld, you can also connect any radio that rigctld supports.
How are backups handled?
Whenever the log has changed, HamlogEx backs it up automatically on exit or when switching logs (10 generations by default). You can restore from the zip, which bundles the log, settings and print definitions.
Does it work in English?
Yes. It follows your Windows display language automatically, and you can switch languages in Settings without restarting.
